After extraordinary
parliamentary elections
Ode to Joy or
Hymn to Kosovo Folly
It became evident long time ago that Eurovision
had turned into popular entertainment for the
masses. However, it would be difficult to define
what represented and set apart Ireland at Belgrade
Eurovision Song Contest this year without offending
animals.

A stuffed animal named
Dustin the Turkey intended to shout names
of some European states in a frenetic
rhythm and by this to win/abuse their
sympathies, manipulating the idea that
we are all the same by linking Ireland,
Finland, Austria, Switzerland and Germany
with states of the former Eastern bloc.
A similar synthesis was presented at the
recent May elections. The coalition gathered
around Tadic did the same by linking Europe
and Kosovo, though only in theory, and
- to everyone's amazement - they succeeded!
The double salto mortale was fruitful,
bringing 102 seats in the Parliament.

moments, Serbia looks optimistic, or rather it
looks like a retrospective of any day between
5 October 2000 and 11 March 2003.
To be honest, this is all far from the euphoria
and élan that the citizens had back then, but
it looks like the tragicomedy characterized by
dementia and collective madness, whose main screenwriter
is a tech puppet, may be over finally. We will
see whether the latest expression of the citizens'
pro-European choice will be politically articulated
in the third act of the burlesque election year,
in the so-called denouement - the forming of the
government. It remains to be seen whether the
technical prime minister will resurrect, screaming
"Kosovo" in the orchestra conducted
by rusted hand bombs, or whether he will withdraw
quietly in the sunset of Kosovo myth and hymn
to Kosovo folly, folding the map of "integral
Serbia" under his arm.
All options are possible, the offices are open,
and the chairs are getting cold, so, politicians,
speed up the synchronization of your political
principles. Do not eat too much from the budget,
we are not all partisans. Many of us want to hear
Ode to Joy, enough with the hymn to Kosovo folly.
Let us all sing "Be embraced, you millions"!
