Beware of Serbian Hand

The dilemma whether Serbian religious fascists and nationalists would raise their head after signing of Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union (on April 29) was solved in a few days already: on May 2nd, Belgrade was covered with placards portraying Serbian President Boris Tadic and Deputy Prime Minister Bozidar Djelic, word "treason" stamped in red over their faces. Right next to them was a placard presenting Punisa Racic, assassin of Croatian MPs in the Parliament of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians in 1928, with "There was only one Punisa Racic" written under his portrait.
The message was more than clear: "betrayal" of Serbian interests for bowing to hateful Europe should be punished the way Racic did 80 years ago. It was a completely open call for murder of the part of the government that advocates European integrations and reforms. Let us not forget that five years ago, the Special Operations Unit, a state body par excellence, also struck the one that embodied the pro-European orientation: prime minister Djindjic paid for his democratic and reformist political inclinations with his life. Right before the assassination, his killers issued a DVD, printed in large circulation and widely distributed, in which they glorified their "anti-terrorist deeds" (in fact, war crimes over innocent Croatian, Albanian and Bosniak civilians), referring to such currents in Serbian politics as "a disease that needs to be eradicated".
Instead of a DVD, placards were used this time, and instead of the Special Operations Unit a group of national-fascists, calling themselves "a family of Serb supporters" posted the placards.
It is widely known, however, that they were Partizan and Red Star supporters just as the author of this text is the closest relative to Rockefeller: they were actually exponents of a

violent politics that, undoubtedly, never actually left Serbian political scene and which has been based on murders, looting and war crimes - destruction of every kind. Never definitely defeated, it is resurrecting victoriously in the new form of nationalistic-religiously "aware" protagonists, constantly encouraged by the church and politicians' phrases about "peril to vital national interests" caused by the EU and

Glasses for two Easter eggs
NATO, about "Kosovo as the heart of Serbia" and Kostunica's rallying cries about "usurped territory" and how "we shall never recognize Kosovo for any price. It has been, it is and will forever remain Serbian".
Many media downplayed the threat that these groups pose, just as they snorted at those who claimed that the car accident near Limes was an attempt to assassin the prime minister Djindjic. We believe it was either defense of such policy (Pravda, Kurir, Press) or essential lack of understanding of its vile nature: namely, it never vents empty threats, it moves directly from words to deeds, what's more, it often first acts, and then attempts to minimize or deny the effects of its actions by speaking in public. The tested pattern, which was never more transparent than in the nineties, is used even now. It is extremely important that we understand this, especially at these post-election times when various combinations about constitution of the new government are made. Without prejudice, we warn benevolently those who call themselves "Europeans" and "reformists" in their negotiations with supposedly "democratized and very much changed parties" to bear in mind the folk wisdom: sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. And in Serbia - as the two-hundred-year tradition teaches us! - you may even lose your head easily.
